Edelman Financial Services, one of the nation’s largest and most well known financial advisory firms, is seeking a Portfolio Specialist for the Portfolio Accounting Department.

The Portfolio Accounting department is an integral part of the business by performing data reconciliations, preparing monthly and quarterly reports, resolving account and custodial issues, and calculating performance.

Responsibilities:

• Providing staff with back-end support by utilizing software applications to reconcile client accounts
• Serve as the liaison between planning teams and 3rd party data managers
• Serve as the departmental resource in error reporting as it relates to performance and cost basis for Financial Advisors.
• Work closely with Portfolio Accounting team members on research, analysis and development of methods, procedures, and productivity standards
• Preparing monthly and quarterly reports, including tax documents and composite data
• Processing requests for the collection of account management fees
• Establish and verify account householding and billing instructions
• Prepare data for platform conversions

Requirements

• Successful candidates will have strong fundamental accounting skills and ability to work in a deadline oriented, team environment
• Minimum 2 years financial services industry, experience in a portfolio accounting department preferred
• Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance or related field preferred
• Understanding of various cost basis methodologies: Average Cost, FIFO
• Ability to interpret and calculate performance data using Internal Rate of Return, Time-Weighted Rate of Return, and Simple Return
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with external brokers and clients, set priorities in a fast-paced environment and work independently and is a team player
• Must be proficient in Excel
• Must be highly analytical and be detail oriented
