- Ric develops IRA flow chart. The Washington Post does something the 130-year-old newspaper never did before or since: It printed the entire chart sideways (so it would fit on one page).

- President appoints Ric as delegate to the National Summit on Retirement Planning. Also appointed for 2002 and 2006 summits -- the nation’s only financial advisor to serve at all three.
